 Frequently Asked Questions

  • What maintenance is required?
After loc extension installation, every 4-6 weeks vou will need to maintain vour locs as they grow and mature, by washing, conditioning, moisturize, palm rolling, etc.. After loc extensions have been installed, you can wash them with moisturizing shampoo. Depending on installation technique used, hair conditioner can be used 2-3 months AFTER installation date. If you must use hair conditioner to help soften the extensions, ONLY apply conditioner below the attachment point, towards the end of the loc extensions. Applying hair conditioner at loc attachment point within 8-12 weeks after installation may result in slippage, loc extension detachment from your natural hair. You are allowed to use moisturizing hydration mist like rose water or something light that will not create product build up in your locs. You may also use moisturizing hair oil on your locs.
  • Is it real human hair?
Yes, all YBOB human hair products are 100% human hair
  • Can we detox these locs?
Yes, all YBOB human hair locs can be detoxed.
  • Can the loc extension damage if I bleach them?
Even though the hair can be bleached / dyed, I wouldn't advise bleaching the extensions within the 3-6 months of receiving. Please be mindful that even though the extensions are made with human hair and crochet to resemble mature dreadlocs, the extensions are not mature internally for the first couple of months. It takes time for the extensions to mature internally, just like natural starter locs. If the locs are bleached before they are internally matured, you might experience swelling of the extensions, frizzing, and the extensions might require re tightening with a crochet needle. If locs are damaged due to over processing, The chemicals in the bleach will break down the locs, eventually cause the locs to thin out, shed, and eventually break off. The same thing will happen to natural locs if processed too many times in short period, or not processed properly.

Do not pull, tug, yank on extensions while wet, this will weaken the extensions.

Yes, Please be mindful that even though the extensions are crochet to resemble mature dreadlocs, the extensions are not mature internally. It takes time for the extensions to mature internall & external just like natural starter locs. • How can you tell the difference between human hair loc extensions & synthetic loc extensions.
The best way to determine if your loc extensions are made with human hair, you can perform a burn test. Human hair burns slowly and gives off a strong smell similar to hair being burnt by a hot comb or flat iron. Human hair will burn into ash balls and crumble between your fingers. Synthetic hair will burn out quickly, and give off black smoke. Synthetic hair burns into a ball and hardens when cool. Synthetic hair has a off putting smell of burning plastic.
